What is the premise of Dune: Part Two?

Dune: Part Two picks up where the first film left off and will cover the second half of Herbert’s novel.

According to the official synopsis released by Warner Bros. and Legendary,  Dune 2 “will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.”

Who is behind the movie adaptation of Dune: Part Two?

Award-winning director and writer Denis Villeneuve made a name for himself in filmmaking with his work on Incendies in 2010, followed by thrillers Prisoners and Sicario. Since then, Villeneuve has explored the sci-fi genre with Oscar-winning films Arrival, Blade Runner 2049, and, most recently, Dune. Currently, the sought-after director is working on Dune: Part Two, the highly-awaited sequel to the film.

Villeneuve and Jon Spaihts, best known for Prometheus, Doctor Strange, and Passengers, penned the script. In addition to Spaihts, more familiar faces have returned to the project, including acclaimed composer Hans Zimmer, who composed an original score for Dune, and Zero Dark Thirty cinematographer Greig Fraser, known for The Batman and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Dune: Part Two is co-produced by Legendary Entertainment, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Villeneuve Films, and Warner Bros.

Producers on the project are Cale Boyter, Jessica Derhammer, Tanya Lapointe, Patrick McCormick, Mary Parent, and Denis Villeneuve. Executive producers include Herbert W. Gains, Joshua Grode, John Harrison, Brian Herbert, Kim Herbert, Byron Merritt, Richard P. Rubinstein, Jon Spaihts, and Thomas Tull.
