Black Swan Affair will rock your fuzzy socks off and leave you feeling pretty conflicted. I’m just in the beginning stages and I read the book two days ago.

Let me get some things straight before I dive in. Black Swan Affair is not a story about cheating. In fact, it’s not even really about Killian. Everything you read in the blurb is true, but very one-sided. There’s a lot more going on than unrequited love.

The Summary

Maverick DeSoto (Small Fry to Killian and Swan to Kael) is stuck between two brothers and marries one to spite the other. Killian Shepard, executive at DeSoto Construction Industries, fell for Mav, but married her sister Jilly instead. That leaves us with Kael Shepard, attorney for DeSoto Construction, and the guy who gets down on one knee for the love of his life; a one-sided love.

My Review

You’d think this would be a recipe for a love triangle, but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. If it was a love triangle, I’d die from immense irritation. Those things are the absolute bane of my existence.

There is so much going on and so much is hidden beneath the surface. You think you have everything figured out until K.L. Kreig throws a curveball of epic proportions. Makes you actually feel bad for the guy who you’ve spent so much time learning to hate.

But more or less, what you should expect from this story is a slow-burn romance and the death of another that only begins post marriage. Not the best time, but hey, you gotta start at some point.

What gave me whiplash in the beginning was the fact that Mav and Kael have been best friends since forever. I went into this expecting a contract styled marriage and instead I get this unrequited love limbo that makes me want to sigh.

Why You Should Read Black Swan Affair

All in all, Black Swan Affair is an angst-filled story that will leave you tearing at the seams and wanting nothing more than to just jump inside and shake some characters.

If you’re into childhood friends turned lovers, unrequited love or twists that leave you in shambles, then this is the book for you.

If you hate love triangles, cheating or cliffhangers, you need not fear. Black Swan Affair is free of it all. If it wasn’t free, I promise I’d let you know. Of course, there is one moment, but I consider a bye bye bye moment if anything which is understood between all parties.

Take a chance (it’s not really a chance) with Black Swan Affair. It’s worth every single grumble, eye roll and groan.
